ABSTRACT

During the time of COVID-19, the growth of the Hotels and Restaurants (H&Rs) sector fall down throughout the world. The overall performance of this sector falls during this challenging time. Therefore, this sector has to adopt new strategies to make the best use of the opportunities and counter the challenges in this crucial time. One of these challenges is how to assess the performance of H&Rs based on multiple criteria. Keeping this in view, this paper attempts to evaluate the efficiency of 45 large-scale H&R companies operating in India using the data envelopment analysis (DEA) technique. DEA-based CCR and BCC models are employed to evaluate the efficiency on the bases of recyclable input and output variables. The study is carried out with four input and two output variables. On an average, 78.30% H&Rs are found to be technically efficient (TE) which suggests a possible improvement of 21.70%. The stability of results is also carried out using recyclable input and output that suggest the importance of the used variables for the overall improvement of the efficiency of the deployed H&Rs. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd.

ABSTRACT

The COVID-19 pandemic is not over yet. The Coronavirus Disease 19 Pandemic due to the SARS-CoV-2 virus is spreading very quickly in almost every country in the world because of its human-to-human nature. The first COVID-19 case in Indonesia was detected in Depok, West Java, on March 2, 2020. To deal with this, the government must decide on an efficient policy by observing the atmosphere and situation in each region. In this research, we aim to determine the risk status of COVID-19 transmission in the East Java region using Tsukamoto Fuzzy Inference System. The data used are 38 district data groups consisting of four variables. The input variables are COVID-19 positive cases, suspect cases, and probable cases. The output variable is the risk status of COVID-19 transmission data. The results of this study, the Fuzzy Inference System Tsukamoto method, can be used to determine the risk status of COVID-19 transmission in all areas in East Java with an accuracy value of 95.51%. We implement the model of this research in Banten. The results of model calculations in Banten Province show that the model can be used to determine the zone status of each region in Banten with an accuracy rate above 97%. Therefore, the parameter values for each input and output variable in this study can be used in decision-making in areas that have the same zoning policy. © 2022 IEEE.

ABSTRACT

This study intends to measure the comparative efficiency of Thai Commercial Banks. The performance data has been collected over the past 2 years, between 2020 and 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic and then compared to performance during the normal period of 2017-2018. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) using Variable Return to Scale (VRS) is applied to measure banking performance. Through Intermediation Approach, specific input variables are considered: employee expenses, directors' remuneration expenses, premises and equipment expenses and deposits. The output variables, including loans to customers and investment, are also analyzed. The same time, through the Production Approach, these specific input variables are analyzed: employee expenses, directors' remuneration expenses, premises and equipment expenses, fees and service expenses, taxes and duties and interest expenses. The output variables, including interest income, fee and service income, deposit, and loans to customers, are used to analyze the efficiency. The results of analysis with the Intermediation Approach indicate 5 of 13 Thai Commercial Banks were considered relatively inefficient including BAY, BBL, KBANK, SCB and SCBT. In addition, CIMB is 1 of 13 Thai Commercial Banks is considered as relatively inefficient under the Production Approach. © 2022 ACM.

ABSTRACT

Making the entire world extremely nervous, more than the quarter of a year has gone past since the global breakout of deadly respiratory illness, named Coronavirus Disease-2019 (CoViD-19), over nine million people across the globe have already been infected with more than five percent death rate, and the number is still ascending at a tremendously frightening rate. This study has been driven to identify the adequacy and quality of responses from national health facilities in Bangladesh during this epidemic and discern the stimulates that influence the entire system. With an in-depth exercise of a nonparametric statistical method for proficiency weighting, namely the Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) technique, the objective of this study of evaluating the thorough response and performance of the Bangladeshi National Health Service has been placed in efforts to be achieved. With the outcome, the method and operation of assessing the effective responsiveness, capability, and appropriate organization of the national health services (NHS) in Bangladesh during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic have been revealed. It has also been specifically identified that this country’s health system does not possess material mastery on input variables;neither do they have strong dominance over output variables. With a view to minimizing the expenditure, they should have decreased input variables alongside enhancing input resources thoroughly to deal with this pandemic with stringent governance. Direction and limitation of future research endeavors in this area may be indicated by this study. National responses across the globe can also be benchmarked. © 2021 International Consortium for Electronic Business. All rights reserved.

ABSTRACT

Existing elevators use a wide variety of methods in their systems to provide a direct response to the input received by first checking the inputs to operate. This response is related to the movement of the elevator itself. The research was conducted to minimize the movement of the elevator. In addition, as a form of effort to reduce the spread of Covid 19, the touchless button is introduced to the elevator operating system. The provision of the fuzzy logic method will make the elevator system manage the input given to determine priorities in the elevator movement. There are several input variables in the fuzzy method: position, distance, direction, and elevator capacity. Fuzzy logic will manage these variables, which are then obtained in the form of elevator movement priority. PLC used in this study is PLC Outseal Mega V1.1 as a controller on the elevator. The input uses a proximity infrared sensor so that it can provide input without touch. The use of functions on the PLC such as comparators, timers, and counters can realize an elevator system based on fuzzy logic calculations. The output used is a relay that will operate the DC motor. The proposed method realizes an innovative elevator operating system to stop the spread of covid 19. © 2021 IEEE.
